Sunny intervals and breezy; 17 & 9 degrees, on 9th May in New Milton, Hampshire. You going to a wedding Susan?

Snow is forecast for some areas over next few days but not where I live which will be sunny, light showers & breezes. Suits me. It's like that today.

Thank you very much. One of my granddaughters, partner and dog are coming to visit for the day and it will be nice if we can have a walk along the cliff top. It will be even better if we can have lunch sitting at one of the outside tables of the Beachcomber café.

Sounds like a lovely day,Susan. I do hope it keeps fine for you, weather forecasts are so often inaccurate. However I would expect a bit of settled fine weather in May.

I don't think 12C is all that bad, LR. It's been 5c here today and supposed to be same tomorrow with rain but doesn't seem particularly cold.

With no heating it’s so cold indoors that my breath is misting. Luckily the weather will warm up tomorrow. In the meantime I’m off to rummage in the shed for the last few logs of the winter’s store.

I went out at 7am today and it was freezing, came home for lunch, still cold. Turned the heating up last night and just turned it up more so it's cosy when I get home again later.

I’ve gone old school - hot water bottle. All we’ve got to keep warm. If this keeps up I’ll go out in the car just to get some warmth.

I find these comments very interesting. My guess is that expectations of weather forecasts are generally rather high and because such forecasts are commonplace, everyday occurrences we do not consider the complexity of them. My guess is that "they" get it right the great majority of times - perhaps 90% - and people simply don't notice this. The small number of times the forecast is not right assume a greater level of attention than they really merit.

Fairly grotty, but not nearly as bad as the forecasts were predicting: they said heavy rain; it did rain much of the day, but only lightly, and it had stopped by late afternoon, and then the cloud largely cleared to give a beautiful evening.

What an absolutely fabulous day! Even more so because I walked all the way to the Beachcomber. Yeah!! took me twice as long as it should, and I sat on a seat here and there or on a handy wall, but did not need my angina spray!

It was so quiet too. Not much traffic and I could hear all the bird song really well. I did have a taxi back home!

Averages out at 27c here, shorts sandals no socks of course and short sleeve shirt order of the day and pen for the occasional autograph hunter.

Yes, I did, thanks. Went for a ride of just over 50 miles, to Knebworth House, Stevenage, Hertford, Hatfield, St Albans and back home. Photos currently uploading to Flickr - link to album to follow.

We had a great time, thank you. Lots of living history, several hot knights around (in both senses of the word) and a fabulous falconry display to boot - the kids all got to hold various falcons and a barn owl - they are stunning creatures.

Lovely on Tuesday, 'orrible yesterday, lovely today. If it keeps that pattern up, it'll be 'orrible again tomorrow, and lovely on Saturday, which is when i head over to the 'Overdraught', in St Albans, for the monthly meeting of the Pipe Club of London, which is perforce held in the garden, thanks to the intolerant laws brought in at the behest of health nazis, so it's preferable if the weather is reasonably clement.
