Have a look at Finchingfield, Thaxted, Dunmow, the Great and Little Bardfields and Banardiston Quindon, Ugley as well, all North Essex and none of these are anything like the generally portrayed image of Essex, their's plenty more like these.

Regards ippy

That I will! Suffolk too (Barnardiston is in Suffolk). I imagine myself and husband slowly meandering through these places and further, in pleasant weather, in a few years time when we retire (if we last that long). Won't bother going abroad, we'll explore new places and places we've only visited briefly in the past, here in the UK.

It is raining quite heavily at present, thank goodness.

You're boasting LittleRoses! It's been cooler today and overcast now but hotter indoors than out. Oh I long for rain.

No rain in Nottingham for decades now (prone to exaggeration I know) but my poor patch of land that passes for a lawn is now very forlorn and brown.

We have had heavy rain overnight, it was still raining when I went for my daily walk before 7pm.

You're so lucky, LR, cloud here but no rain and every time it is forecast they change it at the last minute to say it won't make it here. The countryside is like a tinderbox. Would so love a walk in the rain right now.

According to Accuweather Chris isn't coming so the heatwave will continue. Chris is going to Iceland instead. Am annoyed that Chris changed his mind.

We used to live in Bath in the 70s, our younger two daughters were born there.

Surfaces in the Vale of Evesham are damp - we have light rain. The sky is rather grey but with some bright backlighting. It remains to be seen whether our yellow grass can quickly turn green.

Very high temperatures are forecast for the weekend.

Lovely place, Bath. Makes me think of water right now, having been out since early this morning I could do with Bath, maybe have shower in a minute. We could do with a shower here! I'm envious of you, please pipe some water to Bromley too.

I will do my best. ;D We have had more rain this afternoon. :)

You should be getting some of the wet stuff next week, if my vibes are right.

Yeah  >:(.

It's cooler now though, windows open. We have to wait until 23.45 for it to cool down but better late than never. Hopefully I will sleep like a baby (not that all babies sleep well).

Tell me about it.

What a beautiful place you live in! The Cotswolds are wonderful.

Same here, I'm enjoying sitting downstairs and being engrossed in something rather than just feeling lethargic because of heat. Will go up to bed soon though - hopefully I'll sleep well and have a good lie until late in the morning.

I'm up with an unwell young person - got a vomiting bug in the house. Not ideal given how hot it is due to get.

Oh I am sorry Rhiannon, I hope she/he's better now than when you posted. Is there a bug 'going round'? I vomited before I went up to bed & it was very unpleasant but it was just once - I thought, in my case, it was because I'd eaten some melon and grapes that were in fridge.I also had a couple of glasses of wine last night. Seem to be alright now but so much for my lie in - huh! I woke about half an hour ago & had to get up. Might go back again in a while.

It is very hot this morning. Wishing your young 'un well.

Sorry that you aren't well too. Definitely a bug, eldest had it Weds, now younger daughter. It seems to have a quick incubation period and it lasts about 12 hrs...at least it is fairly short lived. Got to sleep some time after three I think. Keeping everyone hydrated is the thing and in heat and with a fever that is going to be a challenge. But I have some rehydration sachets to hand.

Bugger.

Thanks, I'm OK now, not long up.
My nephew had a bug like your daughter's sometime year before last. He felt really lousy for a day and a night, then exhausted but better. We kept him rehydrated and cool.

I hope you don't catch it Rhi.

Nasty stuff, as you say particularly in this heat and, boy, is it hot this morning.
