When I was a young kid, no more than about five, my two crazy uncles made me a kite out of bamboo and brown paper, it was bigger than me. They decided to fly it in one of our fields in a very high wind, I demanded to be allow to fly it too, which they stupidly let me do. I went up with the kite, and they have to grab me by my feet to bring me down. I was bribed with sweets not to tell my Mum of my adventure! In fact where sweets were concerned I did quite well, as I got very good at blackmailing them. "I will tell Mummy of you", was one of my frequent refrains. Daring me to sit on the electric fence got me a huge bag of my favourite sweeties.

A cold start to the day, I had to put my thicker jacket on when I went for my morning walk before 7pm. I then had to defrost the car before driving down to the supermarket. It is lovely and sunny now though.

Woken up by wind early this morning - wind as in weather. Is certainly noisy, could hear something rattling and investigated, just a bathroom window. Husband still fast akip, I intend to go back to bed in a while, still feels like the middle of the night.

I hope no was on this forum has been flooded out of their homes? We are fortunate our property is on a rise, quite a distance from a river, unlike our previous home, which was only yards away from one!

I don't have the answers for those poor devils in south Wales with the flooding however I do know where I would be very pleased to see a lot of the UK's tax money going and not only used for putting the victims back on their feet, as much flood prevention needed as well as for anywhere else flooded in the UK.

Still crap, but remaining very mild: we haven't had any really cold weather this winter.

Priti Patel on the floods: "The whole of government is working and empathising with the individuals that rightly have been affected." Apparently, the flood victims deserve it!
She has also repeatedly said that she wants to lead a crackdown on "counter-terrorism".

After a miserable start with torrential rain, it has been a lovely day with warm sunshine, I was able to turn the heating off for a while.

You really are brave! Yes was quite a nice, sunny day today but not sufficiently so to turn my heating down

. No floods near me at the moment nor likely to be even if the River Ravensbourne overflows.

Brave? I don't like it too warm, in summer I am wishing for snow if the temperatures go much above 20C.

Here in Florida, where Spring brings rain that greens up the green, that strived to remain through the winter, in the most brilliant way. Green has always been my favorite color, but in nature, it is the green than emerges at this time of year that is my favorite. I would post a picture I took earlier today, but I'm not sure how to do it here.

I am the same. I could not survive in Florida if I didn't have air conditioning. I did all the years growing up, and my blessed grandmother did into her late eighties, but I can't imagine how, now.

Air conditioning in houses in the UK is not common, as we haven't really needed it, however with global warming it might be needed in the future.

It is a pleasantly mild day today with no breeze.

The same is the case with our Northern relatives who have never had air conditioning. Seems now they can't live without it. And, then, there were my grandparents who lived in the house my grandfather built them 1937. I never had A/C (or an indoor bathroom at first!) It was a "shot-gun" style home common in the South where an open front and back door would allow the natural breeze to clear the whole house in a few minutes. I grew up in the more modern concrete-block, single-story home that was never built for a good open-window cross breeze. And, I do remember hot, sweltering nights. I suppose acclamation is the key, regardless of where we are.
