I hope that prediction applies to Hertfordshire as well - mine could do with it too.

Sadly your area hasn't any rain predicted at all! :o

I was shocked when I read that weather forecasters had been sent abusive e-mails and tweets during the heatwave! :o

We have had light rain on and off most of the day. It is about 21C, there is a moderate breeze.

How are people coping with this awful heatwave? I have my walk early as usual, then stay in for the rest of the day.

It hasn't been as bad here, being further north, compared with more southern parts of the UK - but it's been hot enough for me!

Currently 24C outside, but 31C in St Albans (where I had my secondary school education).

Yeah, yesterday was just a beautiful summer's day in Glasgow. I'm at an open air concert tonight so will enjoy it.

I am glad Bonny Scotland is rather cooler. :) It is about 30C  in our part of North Wales. Not much higher than 20C is better for me.

Nice display of lightning around midnight, and pretty heavy rain on and off since then. Constant rain nin East Ayrshire since around five o'clock this morning, and very humid.

Apparently there was some loud thunder here about 2.30am - I slept through it, since my ears were sans hearing aids.

A bit cooler today and some much needed rain. No thunder as yet, thank goodness.

It was hottest in mid-afternoon. at about 13:00 I went outside. It wasn't too bad in the house, but when I stepped through the front door, I hit a wall of heat. Now, at 22:30, it's still hot, but not as bad as that. Apparently, 100F (38C) was reached somewhere in Suffolk, and tomorrow may top 40C (104F) in places. (I assume BBC News meant shade temperatures, though they didn't specifically say so.)

All temperatures used in official weather statements refer to air temperatures measured in structures such as Stevenson Screens which exclude direct radiation. The temperature could be notably higher in direct sunshine.

Sunny but quite a bit cooler than it has been, thank goodness. We have had much needed rain in the last few days.

I don't like the humidity. My office is a pleasant temperature thankfully.
We could do with some rain.

We have some extremely heavy rain first thing this morning for which our garden was very grateful. We haven't had rain that heavy for much of the year.

Bloody freezing. It snowed overnight on Sunday-Monday, and is still lying.

No snow here - but there is freezing fog, and the car says it is -8 outside.

(not one that floats, obviously)
