Some friends in Northern Ireland lost their electricity with Eowyn on Friday. They've just been told that they will get it back Monday 3rd Feb.

Damp mild, still.
I once tried using "chicken" as a password, but was told it must contain a capital so I tried "chickenkiev"
On another occasion, I tried "beefstew", but was told it wasn't stroganoff.

It reads like the effects of the eye of the storm to me.  https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eye_(cyclone) We might be getting that effect more often now, given the likely-hood of storms starting in the Atlantic and moving over to the UK (& France and Spain?).

Bright, sunny, cloudless blue sky, slight breeze, a bit nippy.
I once tried using "chicken" as a password, but was told it must contain a capital so I tried "chickenkiev"
On another occasion, I tried "beefstew", but was told it wasn't stroganoff.
