I have been involved in several internet boards, and no-one has actually managed to provide any such evidence, so perhaps you ought to point what you believe to be evidence out to us.
Of course child abuse of any kind is horrific, but that has nothing to do with whether or not the underlying trends have improved or worsened. Victorian child abuse for example was much more commonplace than it is now.
I am fully aware of the horrendous ways in which children have been abused throughout the industrail age in the UK - but do we actually have any evidence that
sexual child abuse - which is what the latest report is dealing with as far as I am aware - was much more common in Victorian times? I'm not saying that it wasn't, just that everything we believe occurred is largely based on our more recent experiences.
