There is some interesting stuff out on the Internet ATM, the original article I read claimed the DNA was different to any known animal and that they could not cross breed with modern man.

Hunting around I found this one, which is a critical look at the findings.

I suppose it is possible there is a ape/human like creature out there just that bit more distant or from a different branch of ape. ( I'm ignoring the alien hybrid as a bit to far fetched ATM)

We can't cross breed with chimps and gorillas, and they are fairly close.

They need to test that DNA under stricter conditions with properly qualified people IMO.

Looking at the people involved, the conclusions were foreordained.

But there's nothing ape-like about those skulls.  If there's any reason to say they aren't us, they're closer to us than any other known relative.
