Priest suspended for riding hoverboard up aisles during Christmas Eve mass

Good to see that at least some priests aren't giving in to the latest consumerist fad...

It is good if they can bring a bit of humour into the proceedings. ;D

Although this was unintended humour, I still remember it all these years later.

I attended a Pentecostal church as a kid, and had to do the adult baptism thing after I got 'saved'. I don't remember much about my personal dunking, but an elderly women was being done at the same time, and it was hilarious! She didn't realise that the white tunics we wore for the baptism were see through when they got wet. All the other people being baptised wore their swimsuits underneath, this old woman wore nothing! We couldn't stop giggling as her emersion left nothing to the imagination! I bet the many randy male members of the congregation wished it was one of the younger women who had given such a display! ;D ;D ;D

That "hover" board clearly has wheels and they are definitely touching the ground. Has he been suspended for misrepresentation?

If I was a hover boarding priest and my hover board didn't touch the ground I think I would be Touching cloth.

Not difficult - they tend to wear a lot of it.

Goodness me, no - if you've got it, flaunt it is my motto, and no magistrate is on record as demonstrating otherwise.

Ah, but British summers are not often, or for long, very warm (ask any Briton), so I'm out and about and shaking it most of the time  :D

I asked our vicar daughter if I should get her a hover board, she said it would be a great idea, but she reckoned she would probably break her neck if she used one! ;D

Priests who do stuff like that, thinking they're cool or funny and thinking they'll attract young people, are just seen as sad by young people.

The priest, at the diocese of San Pablo in Laguna, was filmed riding the self-balancing scooter up and down the aisles, to the applause and evident delight of some of the congregation.

It wasn't met with apparent disdain at all...

Young people were not the ones making the complaints and there appears to be the majority liking it. In fact they applauded and evidently liked it. You should never undermined a priest or vicar trying to bring excitement to his Parishioner's on Christmas Eve.

It is evident that establishments DON'T like change from their norm. But even Christ brought change when he showed that the Sabbath was about the good of man given by God to help him. If Christ can walk on water why can't a priest use a hoverboard?

Because it's naff, cheapens the liturgy and is just sad. To compare Christ's miracles with a priest using a hoverboard shows that you're detached from reality.

Cheap shot and missed it's mark.

No comparison of Christs miracles. None whatsoever.... Can't even compare it to Christs miracles.

I said Christ BROUGHT CHANGE when he showed the Sabbath was given for the good of man.   Christ walking on water is a statement and so was using the hoverboard. Both doing something new in their own time for a purpose of bringing God to the attention of man.

I guess the truth is you make excuses like ''cheapens the liturgy'' when in fact  it shows as Christ that worship is not
about custom or practice but about worshipping God in Spirit and Truth.

Your problem reminds me of this:-

Quote
14 And David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.

16 And as the ark of the Lord came into the city of David, Michal Saul's daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the Lord; and she despised him in her heart.

21 And David said unto Michal, It was before the Lord, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the Lord, over Israel: therefore will I play before the Lord.

22 And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight: and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour.

23 Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death.

If a King can dance in his loin cloth then a priest can use a hoverboard to praise the LORD.
I guess you are as miffed as Michal...

The miracles attributed to Jesus are highly unlikely to have happened in reality!

You are clearly comparing using a hoverboard with Christ's miracles. The major difference is that whilst the latter shows us that God became flesh the former shows us that there's no accounting for taste.

If you really were bothered about worhipping in spirit and truth then you would say with the ancient Church "lex orandi lex credendi" and worship according to the ancient liturgies. This is orthodoxy (right glory).

My post is clear so cannot twist it to something YOU and YOU alone want it to say.
As I am the author my words stands and yours show nothing but contempt for truth. You don't want the truth you are a pharisee who does not take his own advice. It isn't the outward way which counts it is the inward change to man with the outward showing it.
