I can guess the points you are trying to make, in your clumsy way, but really the best way to start a discussion - which is what you said you were trying to do - is to make your points clearly in order that people can make sensible replies. Go on, give it a try.

It is a challenge which needs to be met - whether it is possible or not long term is yet to be seen. How does that question relate to your OP though?

I have never run from anything on here TW, so please don't suggest I have. In your OP you suggest that Muslims are happy in countries such as the UK but want to change it and you ask why. A simple question which would have been much better stated simply and clearly without all the other stuff before it. It seems to me to be a misplaced generalisation i.e. some Muslims are happy here and some Muslims want to change here - but they are not necessarily the same Muslims. The radicals want to forcibly change Western societies because they see them to be offensive and are not happy here.  Other Muslims would like Western societies to change but not forcibly. Others are happy to live within Western culture provided they are allowed to go about their own business. The answer to your question, as far as I can see, is that you are talking about different Muslims.

Now then, one issue is what percentage of the Muslims in countries such as Britain hold the radical view. The second is how much support the middle group will give the radicals, or how much of a blind eye will they turn to their activities. The point made in the clip you linked to is a valid one well made. None of this is new however and I am sure we are all aware of these issues. It is a major challenge for our time.

So, since you apparently wanted a discussion, what do you suggest is the answer to these issues?

This and the OP sound like something that would come out of Anjem Choudery's mouth - a lot of unevidenced, unsupported allegations, generalisations and claims based on spin. It sounded like spin the minute she said that intelligence services agree on the percentage of radical Muslims seeking the destruction of Western civilisation, and then failed to name these so-called intelligence services and link to publications of the intelligence studies.  Must be the same way the so-called unnamed intelligence "agreed" on WMD in Iraq.

Like Anjem, these US "patriots" will cling onto their beliefs about others. I said on another thread that the failings of the West are easier for me to live with because I live in the West. If I lived in, was connected to a country that was receiving the brunt of the failings of the West, obviously I would not think that the failings of the West are easier to live with and may well seek to prevent /change those failings.
