Interesting article but the underlying reality is that nuclear genie is well and truly out of the bottle. Nuclear weapons are not going to go away any time soon (as North Korea has demonstrated) so it would seen rather reckless for us to abandon our nuclear deterrent now,

Whether Trident is the best option in terms of cost and effectiveness, I don't honestly know.
