I must admit I didn't know there was a big problem. Of course I know some of the history, schism and all that, but there doesn't appear to have been much of a problem that I know of. The Orthodox people I've met on forums believe they were the originals! Like any others, they differ between themselves - Russian, Greek, Eastern. The Russians believe the Russian royal family, Romanovs, are saints and venerate them.
At my old school, which was Catholic, some Orthodox clergy came and said Mass in the chapel. It was after my time but I was told about it and everyone was enthralled with the drama, quite a change from the usual Catholic 20mins-half an hour do! Catholics are taught that they may receive the sacraments at an Orthodox church - but I was told quite firmly, on forums, that Orthodox may not be very happy about that! So the way I see it, Catholics respect Orthodoxy and the Orthodox consider Catholics to be a sawn off second rate version
. All seems silly to me but I don't practice anything.
Sorry if all this, or some of it, has been said but I couldn't open the link.
