Don't beat youself up
« on: February 22, 2016, 07:36:34 PM »
What I want to know about pantheism is why on this forum (god), God in the form of a pagan and an atheist. are being beastly to god in the form of myself calling me things like troll and saying i'm having the wrong emotions toward pantheism. Shouldn't there be harmony in pantheism? I wonder what god (other posters) think about this.

So you are saying that God has come down to this forum and is posting under the name of Rhiannon and/or Shaker? Are you sure that it's not just humans being beastly to you?

So you are saying that you are God. Is that not a form of blasphemy for Christians?

I am not the one claiming pantheism, but if pantheism is correct we are all divine surely.

Your desire to see me in some kind of deep religious do do over a supposed blasphemy is though positively fundamentalist.

I don't care what you think about paganism, or pantheism.

The repeated distortion of the words of others and making a very interesting thread all about you you you is wearing though; 'troll' is relatively polite.

No............. you made it all about me, presumably because my line of questioning demanded the polishing of the turd of conflating atheism with pantheism on Shakers part and your conflation of wooly inclusivism and exclusion of monotheists.

Please give examples of me distorting others words......I shan't be holding my breath on that one.

Your exclusivity makes a mockery of the fine ideals of pantheism and also makes it harder to credit.

Well Hugh, pagans get very snarky when we go at their paganism they way they go at Christianity here. Rhi loves to take swipes at Christianity, but one is a troll if you dare to pop into the pagan section and swipe at their gods, their nature worship and their new age, all is one BS. Ketty told me a lot when she had to leave.

I think that you're an attention seeker, as demonstrated by the above post.

I don't know who or what Rhi's gods are since when I ask I am guilty of not understanding, being a monotheist, troll etc, etc.
At the moment I understand she is in agreement with Shaker and I suppose the closest I can get in view of that that she is now an atheist.

Hi Hugh

I can only give you my opinion.

The thing that strikes me about pantheism is that we are all different and part of it builds on our individuality.

You say further down we are all divine, but what I would say is we are all different and see and experience different spiritual things in different ways.

So we are like the reflections of the facet of a jewel.

No one always sees things exactly the same, and people interpret things internally differently, so an Athiest still experiences the wonder of it all while others experience a more religious one.

I think in pantheism like in paganism the individualism is accepted and respected.

The problem comes in that other religions, Christianity very much so, tells a person how you must see God right down to whether there is a trinity or not.

Christianity doesn't respect the personal interpretation of the divine or spirituality in the same way.

Therefore some Christians tend to get irritating because they come across as all other forms of wonder and awe are inferior.

Having said that, I think Gonnagle " gets it" and doesn't get the same hassle.

I could be wrong but that's my reading of it.

Your challenging questions sometimes come across as winding people up by not respecting their space.

No

I think she is just respecting shakers space, and is finding things they have in common.

A lot of people's views evolve if they are not told how they should see things.

Some see that as a spiritual path.

Didn't we have an atheist shamen some time back?

I suppose the reaction here is based on whether individual Christians respect others individuality.

There is a conflict between the individuality and respect of different POV  of Pagan and pantheism views,  and the set beliefs of Christianity.

Ketty had some very very strong feelings on what Christianity was, and there was no room for individual interpretation. ( on Christianity, let alone anything else)
She was entitled to her POV but  so are others.
This was always going to go pear-shaped when people gave an individual POV that didn't fit.

ITs a shame Ketty left, but it was her choice.

The open minded  individuality wasn't to her taste 🌹😀

No I don't like it when I see Christians being attacked here, but the reason is because they have some very set ideas, and they don't respect anything else.

People tend to get snarky when they express their own experiences in life ( not dictating how others should be) and they get told their opinion is BS.

what might help is if you gave your own experiences of your own spirituality without touching on theirs.

When you open up your own personal feelings on something, criticism can come across as an attack.

I notice the Christians who don't get any hassle are the ones like Gonnagle who honestly give their own feelings and try and build bridges and they are careful not to criticise the honestly given feelings of others.

It's so hard sometimes to get it right, we all put our foot in it, now and again.

🌹😉

I, too, respect Gonners' opinions ... but I find his insistence in referring to "divine" causes, rather than accept that we just don't know, a tad weird.

Yes, but didn't JC call the Jews gods and that the kingdom of heaven is within you, which is pretty pantheistic or panentheistic.

Hi rose

Thank you for your reply.
I too have given Shaker space by not posting further on his pantheistic thread.
However I don't believe we should not be critical because a poster doesn't like it.

I do not usually visit the Pagan board either and so my encounters with Rhiannon and Shaker are mainly when they dish out the critique in the Christian board.

I have a higher regard for the notion of spiritual experience but as a Christian I believe that committing to Christ and the context constitute my crowning transformative experience.

Sad to say though for some the need to attack that, in particular, seems very strong.

I would say panentheistic or maybe it's about the inner journey to it.

Well, if you were around on the old BBC forum, there was one there. Anthony Rolfe, I think his name was.

So you are the type of Christian that kind of works out their own salvation by going on a journey as oppose to those who think it is either/or; you're in the club or you are not?

No, I believe salvation is through Jesus. But there are journeys to Christ.
