A blind person with dog would say as much when booking and the airline would put them on a flight where people have not stated they are allergic to dogs.  Someone who states they are allergic to dogs would be put on a dog free flight.  There are plenty of flights, especially in the States.
That isn't either practical or realistic. The airline they were on doesn't appear to be one of those where there will be another flight in an hour - they were delayed two days.

And on the realistic - how many allergies might you need to declare that might be triggered by something on the plane?

And is it reasonable to change the flight plans for a blind person traveling with a guide dog on the basis that someone else might have an allergy. I think that would be totally unacceptable.

It does not take 90 minutes to disembark somebody from a plane, even if they have hold luggage......

Wrong, Jeremy ;)

Our flight to Turkey was delayed by just over 2hrs while someone taken sick on board was disembarked from the plane.

Just to add, the remaining passengers were very patient. We all wondered what was causing the delay, which turned out to be diagnosing the problem; but overall everyone remained quite civil.

That is perfectly possible. And not just because of the time for diagnosis etc - sometimes if you miss your takeoff slot you have to wait ages.

That said I'm not convinced this is the case here - particularly as there clearly seems to have been an altercation - the couple weren't happy with being made to disembark because they wouldn't have kicked up such a fuss in the media unless they were really unhappy. I suspect a standoff between the family and the airline, with the airline wanting the family to disembark and the family wanting the passenger with the guide dog to be kicked off. If that is indeed the case I'm with the airline on this.

You may be right Prof Davey, I was just hypothesising.  No, I do not think it is right for people to have their flights changed at short notice.  I'm surprised anyone had to wait two days for another flight though.

Well I guess it depends on the booking arrangement - some tickets allow transfer to other airlines (and are usually the more expensive tickets). If you pay bottom dollar you may need to wait until there is space on a flight from the same airline, and that could easily be a couple of days.

I guess as he had been disembarked because of ill health the airline would need to be confident that the child was fit to travel.

Going back to my story about the woman being chucked off the plane because she was claiming she was ill and needed to be upgraded. This was  9 hour-ish flight from the Caribbean with the family. Everyone was fine when we boarded, but by the time we got off the plane our daughter had broken out in chicken pox. There was no sign of this as we boarded although in hindsight she had been a touch under the weather for a few days before hand. Had those chicken pox appeared just a few hours earlier we wouldn't have been allowed to fly and we probably wouldn't have been allowed to fly for days as she would have been infectious.

I believe assistance dogs should not be banned from public and other places. I think in today's world, a parent should be prepared to adjust accordingly if their child has allergies and not make the blind and mentally challenged go back to the 1970s.
I mean would we expect the Indians to clear the street of their holy cows if somebody was allergic to them?

There was no indication in this case that the boy was so sick they had to call in medical assistance to move him.

Once someone had to be removed from a flight I was on (due to illness) , and I think the time involved was also how long it took to retrieve their cases as it depends how easy it is to access,  plus the flight slot.

It took about an hour, but I guess it can vary, depending on circumstances.

If the suitcases were loaded first, I guess it takes longer.

If your child is allergic to anything you should always check there will be nothing on the flight to cause an reaction.
It is sad adults cheer. But it was really about the allergy of the child not the animals being given preference.
Easier to put child and mother on another flight than many passengers with their pets on other flights.
