whither memetics?
« on: March 07, 2016, 07:21:48 PM »
I see a Laddy is evoking memetics in an argument on another thread.
I think it is a way to Darwinise non Darwinian effect and will be looked upon as quaint.

Good for him.

Memetics is about whether the propagation of ideas is subject to something analogous to Darwinian evolution. I think the hypothesis is plausible but it is not proven.

Why is there no 'Vlad is being a pretentious arse again' option?

Because Vlad invented the poll. You'll note there is no "Vlad has no fucking idea about what he is talking about" option either - same reason.

Sorry to disappoint you but one has to limit the options indeed that is usually in the Purdue of the poster and isn't usually seen as something bad.

Is your special pleading in my case some kind of meme with you guys?

I've set up polls on this site before and I know for a fact you are not limited to four options. There is no reason why you could not have included Gordon's suggestion or mine, although I'd suggest you include both because then you might have a chance to split the vote.

Nope - just the lessons of previous experience.

This gets even stranger I'll bet you have never requested inclusion on anyone else's poll.

Look Jezzer you are perfectly at liberty to start A poll of your own.

I didn't request you include me in your poll? Why are you lying?

I am happy to leave judgment to the casual observer who is best placed to see the trolling and derailing by you and Gordon.

I'm pretty sure that the casual observer will realise that my suggestion to include ""Vlad has no fucking idea about what he is talking about" in your poll is not a request to include me and, in fact, doesn't even mention me.

Again, I ask, why are you lying?

And have you suggested inclusion of any of your ideas in any other poll?
