April Fool prank backfires!!

Do you have stories - of pranks you've played that have backfired, or that have been played on you and backfired?
Are your, or your friends'/relatives', garages, lofts or sheds full of unused DIY gear, sewing/knitting machines or fabric and haberdashery stuff?

Lists of what is needed and a search engine to find your nearest collector (scroll to bottom for latter) are here:  http://www.twam.uk/donate-tools

I have personal knowledge of a BRILLIANT one yesterday perpetrated by a Bishop! ;D As far as I know it hasn't backfired, but some were completely taken in by it.

It wasn't the old "Christianity disbanded - they've found the body" one, was it?
Pain, or damage, don't end the world. Or despair, or fucking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man, and give some back. - Al Swearengen, Deadwood.

Was it last April 1st when someone thought it would be a good wheeze to nominate Jeremy Corbyn for the Labour leadership?

There was a Bishop of Birmingham who did something memorable during a confirmation service as I recall , I forget the details.
