My fault, and it is disabled again. I was checking out settings since it seems there is a 'Tweet' link in polls and I inadvertently enabled Karma, and I've now reversed it.
It's all the blibs and blobs you see, and the stress, and the drink, and no doubt this brief mistake was going to happen to me today anyway, for some reason or other (not that anyone cares!)
