Introducing wolves in Yellowstone Park
« on: May 13, 2016, 02:00:56 PM »
Hi everyone,

They reintroduced wolves in the Yellowstone Park in 1995...and it had a dramatic effect on the ecology and physical geography of the park....quite unexpectedly.

Watch it!

Cheers.

Dear Sriram,

Watched it ages ago, it was a real eye opener, it really hit home to me that nature is best left alone, it has being doing what it does best for millions of years, I suppose you could say evolution in action, if we hadn't killed of all the wolves then nature would have gone along doing what it does best, keeping everything in balance.

You would think that nature and evolution has some kind of purpose, but you can't say that, can you, well can you!!

Hi Gonnagle,

Yes....its fascinating how closely connected all aspects of the world are.  Nature is extraordinary. And that itself is my reason for believing that there is some form of Intelligence or Consciousness coordinating the evolution and development of all life forms.

The interconnectedness itself is enough evidence  that there is some form of connecting link. Take the simple case of the Self Medication of animals that I have written about sometime back.  Self medication and choosing the correct herb or clay... would be impossible by chance.

When we talk of a purpose, it need not be something that we are able to understand or logically connect with our lives. It need not be logical. It may be quite beyond us....but the unseen Intelligence behind the interconnectedness is obvious ..to me at least.

And of course the development of such creatures as humans is itself, to me, sufficient evidence of a direction.

We should also not become bipolar every time we encounter such remarkable features of evolution and Nature at work. We cannot immediately eliminate from our radar all our spiritual aspects, our own mental characteristics, mystical experiences etc. They don't just go away.

I agree that we may not be able to immediately integrate all aspects of life together neatly and we may find some aspects quite overwhelming. But we should keep all the pieces of the jigsaw on the table never the less,  without throwing any of the pieces away as irrelevant. Someone sometime will be able to see the connection and be able to put them together, at least to some extent.

Otherwise we will continue this battle between Nature and Spirituality endlessly....as though they are two different worlds. When in fact they need not be.  :D

Cheers.

Sriram

Hate to point this out, but "we" are actually a product of evolution and a part of nature.

- sigh -

Argument from personal incredulity.

There is, it's called the environment.

You are so easily convinced by unevidenced superstition and yet so incredulous when it comes to evidence based science...

Dear Stranger,

A very good point, what purpose could man the destroyer be, oh well back to the theist drawing board for me, but it reminds me, in evolutionary terms we are but a blip in the time line and are those scientists right who tell us we will eventually destroy ourselves, will we learn before it is to late, is this why we have never found intelligent life on other planets, they have followed our path to complete destruction before making contact.

These questions and more will be answered in next weeks episode of..............The Twilight Zone.

Anyway, if you have not watched Srirams link, do so, brilliant stuff, man's meddling actually produced a brilliant result, one they had no inkling would happen.

hmm.. it's not so much "meddling" as a small attempt to undo vast previous destruction, that would not have occurred if those responsible had considered their actions or been at all bothered by their effect on the planet.

... And a destruction that still continues worldwide.
Ah, but I was so much older then ... I'm younger than that now

Dear Udayana,

I agree, but by their small attempt they never envisioned the outcome, it is now time to learn from mother nature, instead of destroying it we should learn from it.
