A bizarre story to say the least.  She said something very unkind, the loved ones of those who died in the 9/11 attack will be hurt and what on earth have transgendered people done to her?

I don't think God has abandoned us.  Bad things have always happened  but there is an awful lot of good, we don't make enough news of it.  It's a beautiful, wonderful world.

If you take man out of the world who will fly the planes into buildings? If you take man out of the world who will hate anyone else? If you take man out of the world who will carry bombs on planes and blow trains and tube stations up with bombs in rucksacks?

The good things in the world.. plants for food and the seasons to grow them came from God.
Without the God and creation man could not exist to do those evil things.
If man accepted the good and created good things for themselves among themselves where would evil live?

So maybe just think about the truth of those words.
