I admit to wondering if there would have been a demand for a re-run, had the vote gone the other way. In that case, the Remainers would have been content, we'll never know if the Brexit-ers would have asked for another vote.
The petition that has now been signed by over 3million people was started by an exiter when the polls looked like the vote would go the other way.Farage was talking about there being violence on the streets of the UK when it looked like the vote would go the other way. We've had over 40 years of government when each and every General election has elected a government that supported the UK's membership of the EU. Even at the last one Cameron campaigned on the basis that he'd campaign to keep the UK in and around 75% of all MPs in the current parliament support the UK being In. Democracy is much more complex than a one-off plebiscite.
The Remain group is dremanding a re-run of the Referendum! Why?Because they lost! They want time to try and scare enough people into voting Remain to reverse the count!A Labour Remain MP is demanding that the Commons ignore the result. Why?Because Remain lost! This is democracy? How many times do they want the Referendum re-run before they are going to realise that each time it is re-run they are likely to lose more votes because they are being un-democratic lousy losers? Maybe the Germans should demand a re-run of the 1966 World Cup Final!
I don't know how reliable the information is but . . . someone just told me that the petition was set-up some weeks ago by a Leave supporter Apparently they were expecting to be on the losing side!
That's because it was.http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/brexit-petition-second-eu-referendum-latest-news-vote-leave-a7104076.htmlI suspect that if one spends one's time campaigning for the English Democrats (slogan, Because Scottish racists can fuck off) one gets used to being a loser rather quickly.
