Captain Kirk or Jesus? There's only one way to decide...

...FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!

Quote
Aborted Star Trek movie had Captain Kirk fist-fighting Jesus

“In the climactic scene, Kirk had a fistfight with an alien who had assumed the image of Jesus Christ,” Star Trek author and screenwriter Michael Jan Friedman said. “So Kirk was slugging it out on the bridge. With Jesus.”

I have no idea what section this story should be in. But it needs to be on this forum.

And Kirk would win.

So I'm told, there are still some people about that don't believe in Star Trek, well it takes all sorts?

Those inertial dampers are really needed when somebody pulls you up questioning our Lord's Spock, Jim, Dock, Scotty and  minor Saints like Mr Sulu, Ohura, Chekov, is nothing's sacred these days, whatever next????

It is interesting that the article starts off with: "An early version of Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) would have culminated in Captain Kirk fighting an alien disguised as Jesus, according to a new unauthorised oral history of the series."

It looks that Kirk (and therefore the viewers) would have been aware of the shape-changing issue.

Can you describe the process of ''parading the truth'' Len? Does it involve guys in carnival wear?

Yes, usually! Most religious moguls dress up in some way or another. The process is simple, and is the one adopted by most religions whose adherents believe in 'gods'. The founders simply claim to know their particular "god", and that he has told them he requires obedience to certain rules. Usually there is a carrot/stick attachment promising reward for believing and punishment otherwise.

The gullible fall for it.

Sounds rather like everyday means of discipline, Len, which suggests that this has nothing to do with religion and much more to do with human nature.

By the way, what are religious moguls?  Are they the equivalent of political party leaders, Trades Unions leaders, those who run big business or even smal and medium-sized businesses?

The officiators of religion, priests, vicars, bishops etc. You know, the ones that dress up in frocks and stuff.

Kirk had Neptunian Gurning Hypervirus, Leading to bouts of being doubled up while pulling funny faces interspersed with overacting.

Any advanced alien could have put his sorry Terran ass in a sling.

Religions are just that. They are codes of behaviour devised by humans, but purported to come from some "god".

Yes, but they dress up in fancy gear attempting to impress their sheep.

Captain Kirk chaired an episode of "Have I Got News for You" on the BBC, so there, he really does exist.

Those of you without faith?

Yes, and he cast outrageous slurs on the womenfolk of Ilfracombe! And how would he know that Ilfracombe is 'laced with prostitutes' unless he'd actively been seeking them out there?  hmm....
