Moving.
« on: July 21, 2016, 02:18:01 PM »
Moving experience tomorrow Friday.

Moving to a small bungalow with 130 ft garden with the railway line at the end, I've got my supply of Ian Allen spotters books and can hardly wait, the trains pull away so quickly these days that the driver hasn't the time to wave at us any more.

We've been packing for the last fortnight and we're on first name terms with the people at the local tip and charity shop, It has surprised us how many dust collecting ornaments we have collected over the years, the things screwed to the wall that now needing to be removed.

It might be a good idea to have a general clear out say every six years the junk we have disposed of, oh yes the shredder has been working overtime with all of those old documents that no longer serve any purpose once they're over six years old, that have to be shredded in case of identity theft.

I'm really looking forward to my new home, the highest I may need to go up for doing any house maintenance will be off of a step ladder, I'm too old to go up ladders any more.

Fortunately through years of using professional standard tools I couldn't let myself buy anything of a lesser standard when buying a lawn mower, so the electric one I have should be able to cope with the mainly laid to grass garden, the only thing that might snooker that is the age of the mower, we'll see.

I can walk to my new address from this address in just over three minutes, so I should still be able to annoy the same people I've been annoying for years, we've got all sorts of neighbours here, I'll miss them some very churchy but we have all got along very well, without being intrusive on each other, it seems to be very similar around where our bungalow is.

A very sad parting gift yesterday we heard about our neighbour across the road, without going into the details, it seems she is riddled, partly with pancreatic cancer, I think she is in her early sixties, but whatever, nobody deserves such a fate, it's so sad.

Don't worry any of you I wouldn't want any of you being upset, the land line wont be set up until late Monday, so I'll be back on line from next Tuesday at the latest, I'm sure you'll manage.

Kindest regards to all

ippy

We'll manage and look forward to seeing you back on Tuesday, ipster.

Very sad about your neighbour.

Your new place sounds absolutely delightful but what is more to the point, you seem to be really looking forward to living there so I wish you happiness.

Moving house is a lovely idea.....I am drifting off into a pleasant fantasy.

Good luck with the move ippy: don't drop any boxes containing fragile stuff (and if you do hide the evidence).

Have a good move, and I hope you enjoy the trains.  What chance the occasional steam loco?
Are your, or your friends'/relatives', garages, lofts or sheds full of unused DIY gear, sewing/knitting machines or fabric and haberdashery stuff?

sounds as if you have things under control.  All the best.

I've never actually moved house. Moving with family as a child doesn't count. During the years I was married, BP allocated the housing ( in Little Aden) and all one had to roughly pack were personal belongings. When I came back to england finally, I stayed with my parents for six months, then moved into this house and have been here ever since!
