no, I asked you if a person who has an affair can't be an MP, not about their likelihood of being a good MP. Answer the question asked, not the one you just made up.

There must be a heck of a lot of bad MPs if the criteria for a good one is not cheating.  Some of the stuff we've heard of in recent years makes Keith Vas's shenanigans pale by comparison.

Late last night I was watching a television programme about the 1990s and it featured the Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky business.   I didn't and don't dislike Bill Clinton but what particularly struck me was him denying having sexual contact with the girl, over and over again.  Then he tried to wriggle by saying he didn't do it, she did  ::).  After it died down Monica Lewinsky, who had only been 22 at the time, was reviled by all and sundry in America.

Keith Vas has not denied anything and has apologised.  Points to him for that.

Everyone has weaknesses.  Keith Vas is obviously quite conflicted and has tried very hard to be a good husband and father but he has a stressful job and weaknesses rear their heads under stress.  It could have been drink, or a woman with whom he had a brief affair, or gambling, but it was prostitutes.   Very, very sad for him and his family and I sincerely hope the press will not hound him.  He is being punished enough.

So given he is then aiding and abetting the purchase of illegal drugs, you would agree he should be prosecuted for it?

And let's be clear Keith Vaz has not been cleat of scandal in the past and not always resigned for it, or admitted it

There have been a great many issues in the past with Vaz. Look it up: his record is a disgrace to Parliament.  He is a sanctimonious hypocrite.

Personally I wouldn't bother prosecuting someone for a small amount of drugs for personal use.

I didn't know about past misdemeanours - don't necessarily want to know because it might influence my view of this particular case, which would not be fair.  He's gone now anyway.
Who will be next, I wonder.

Maybe not, but an MP who has been involved in making the law? I wouldn't have sent the bloke who picked up six bottles of water in the Lindon riots to prison but lots of MPs argued for it.

And he isn't gone as an MP. If I was caught in any job I do offering to pay for illegal drugs, I would be sacked.

Did he actually buy any drugs or help to buy any drugs? If not, how can he be prosecuted for aiding and abetting?

I'm not stating that it was the case, but it appears that he offered to pay for cocaine. If it was then stated by the escorts that it was bought and he gave them money for it, then it would be aiding and avetting. In that circumstance I was asking Brownie, if he should be prosecuted.

To which I replied that I wouldn't bother in those circumstances.
However I'm not 'the law', so the police may have different ideas it.  I doubt it being as it appears to have been a small amount for recreational use but you never can tell.

I thought he already had, or perhaps he had just resigned from something else. Well that is the best thing all round.
