Nigel Farage....Does a role need to be found for the man?
« on: November 14, 2016, 06:38:11 PM »
I once read Lord Reith's biography. After the BBC he was at a bit of an end. Concerned with his welfare many in the establishment stated that 'he must be found a role''.

Has Nigel Farage reached that position among the celebrity wing of the great and good where he needs to be found a role?....and if so what role.

Yes, definitely - boot polisher to the masses.

He is an embarrassment to the term 'politician', seems to have no idea what damage Brexit will do to the UK, and spent a lot of his time lying to the British people before the referendum (promises he either denied making, or turned on their heads within hours of the result being announced).
Are your, or your friends'/relatives', garages, lofts or sheds full of unused DIY gear, sewing/knitting machines or fabric and haberdashery stuff?

I will refrain from saying, "Ham or cheese".

He could promote high quality British made goods abroad, maybe?  Morgan cars spring to mind but they are probably not sufficiently 'out there' (and now someone will tell me they are no longer made in the UK).

Since we are still stuck with the nonsense of the monarchy - surely the position of official Court Jester is unfilled: Farage is the obvious candidate.

Plus, since the BBC are nauseatingly grovelling to these royal hangers-on, I reckon the costume once worn by the guy in Rentaghost (all those years ago) could now be put to good use.

Much though I despise the Windsor soap opera, I wouldn't inflict that numpty on them.
"for, as long as but a hundred of us remain alive, never will we on any conditions be brought under English rule. It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself."

While I dislike Farage, he successfully represents the views of millions, the thread seems a bit of the much talked of 'echo chambers' from the Brexit votes and the US election. Like it or not, the Nige is in a good place currently.

If so, he doesn't need to find a role, he already has one.

However admittedly the thread does have echoes but I think it is intended to be lighthearted.

Even so, Jim, wouldn't you love to see him in the costume - at least he'd be appropriately attired.

Lighthearted to those who all agree on something can read as a patronising ignorance to many who might follow Farage.

OK - place him in the same role as David Coburn, then, NS - and give him the same respect due Coburn as well.

To NS:  I suppose so.  It cuts both ways though, Farage supporters would take the mick out us if the situation was reversed.

However you make a good point.  There's no point (sorry)in appearing to be bad losers.

It'll die down.

Reality check:

" ...  among the celebrity wing of the great and good  ...  "      Nigel Farage?

It has been suggested by Nigel Farage himself that he could be a liaison between the UK government and the new USA administration.

Nigel Farage is a self-appointed populist rabble rouser who has achieved some success in this role. He has no great experience as a politician, other than as a single issue advocate, and no experience at all as a diplomat. Indeed, in view of his confrontational behaviour as MEP and somewhat disturbing characterisation of the current president of the USA it would seem doubtful that he has any diplomatic skills at all. He has no appreciable knowledge of American constitutional politics and law.

In terms of the knowledge, understanding and skills required to perform this kind of role he would appear to be a non-starter.

His previous occupation was that of employed gambler and he possesses no higher education qualification. I see no reason why there needs to be any great need for him to have any role anywhere than there was for the late Mandy Rice Davies.

Just as I suspected - Farage should be burnt at the stake.

Wrong. Brexit was a vote to leave the EU. If your reason for voting Brexit was because you genuinely thought we'd be better off out of the EU then I can respect that, but if your reason for voting Brexit was because you wanted to spite me and people like me then, you're a stupid irresponsible idiot.

I'm not , despair would be more accurate.
