It's well worth having your meters converted to smart meters. It enables you to monitor your energy usage on a daily basis so you can spot any wastage pretty quickly and it also ensures that your bills don't give you any nasty surprises.

We have a smart meter but I haven't a clue what the readings mean. My husband apparently does, and makes graphs showing the readings.

I just log-on to the website and I can see my usage of gas and electric on a day by day basis. I use OVO and I think other companies might be slightly different but I'm sure it there will be a way you can do it.

We have already done something similar by joining, in our case, 'yorswitch' which is open to East Riding council ratepayers. The Council then decides by auction to choose the energy company offering the best rates on behalf of those who have joined 'yorswitch'.. I think that many other County Councils do something similar.  It has been well worth it.

Now that we have embedded URLs there's really no need to use the shortened links that could go anywhere. Your link above wasn't actually that long as it turned out, you could have posted it like this

Then we would have known straight away that the site was legit. Or you could have used a URL tag:

It would be a terrible shame if these kinds of matters couldn't be discussed on this board, it's an area that could benefit everyone - and to have a meaningful discussion links to company sites will need to be included.

Sorry, jeremy, I simply copied the piece from the 38 degrees item that popped up under the Facebook item that I shared having switched.  If you regard this as spam, could it not be said that my signature is spam, or some of the other posts that have links to items in newspapers be spam?

After all, 38 degrees isn't an energy creator or seller, (its a campaigning group that campaigns on a number of issues); and this is a link to an opportunity to consider changing your energy supplier that I felt was worth passing on to folk.
