Yemen crisis appeal

Have been keeping a watching brief on the Yemeni situation over the last few months, and was interested by the DEC appeal on BBC earlier this evening.  Has anyone found a site and/or article that deals with the situation neutrally and explains the background to the situation 'we' find ourselves in today?

The problem is how would we now what was neutrally explaining. The attached link is the BBC and while I hae ma doots about some of their stuff reads relatively well

I'm sick to death of all this middle east stuff. When there's only one of em left standing ill send a book on science and engineering and maybe one on teach yourself guitar . Then perhaps we will all feel safe.

You may be ' sick to death of all this middle east stuff', but when innocent civilians are suffering as a result of tribal and political fighting going on around them, with a bit of religious disagreeement added to the mix, don't you have any sympathy.  By the weay, why send a book on teaching oneself the guitar when they have their own types of musical instruments already?

No I don't really have any sympathy, you may find that repulsive , in fact I know most people will but that's how i feel.

btw you have solved my  Christmas present dilemma  for prince Charles this year , a book , of course, Teach Oneself Guitar . He'll love it.

No.  Its an interesting accent, and one that encourages one to listen, but mesmerising; No.

Is there a point where people become appeal weary.

Does it matter how much money is pumped into this? While it may provide food, shelter and medical care etc money will never end what is happening.

Everyone needs to stop selling arms to these people immediately. Us, the Americans, Russians, Chinese - everyone, then they need to get over their tribalism and religion.

I agree with a lot of that, JP, in the meantime we cannot let children suffer and die without making an effort to help them.  Children are innocent in all of this (so are many of their parents).

until I stop hearing any of them shout 'allahu akbar' in news reports they wont get a penny from me.

I did not say gave up their religion, I suggested they get over it, they need to get over the wrong type of Muslim thingy.

From the surface it is difficult to see what Islam has left these people with. Tribalism and the religious divide?

I was so moved by the 2004 tsunami catastrophe I gave my largest ever charitable donation when the appeal was launched. I must admit I did not know about the Banda Aceh province at the time but I was truly shocked when I read reports of young women being publically flogged.

Indirectly, I supported that.

they are their own worst enemy. I decided some years ago not to support them in any shape or form .
