It seems like we are on the verge of another revolution as big as the industrial one.
Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.

This seems inevitable to me with or without Trump

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/dec/16/trump-uber-driverless-future-jobs-go
Because none of this future technology is going to affect me , I can just sit back and watch the show and smile in amusement at the ensuing 'panic'
Education of our young people will become increasingly important . Those kids who understand its importance will have jobs, those that don't will struggle to have decent lifestyles.
The study of sciences, maths , engineering, computer technology, will have to become paramount in education .
We live in a time where technology touches every part of our lives yet the vast majority of people throughout the world don't understand it . The tiny minority who do will dominate the overwhelming majority who don't.
We need to re-evaluate our education system if we want to be part of the future or we will become a nation of subservient bystanders who simply accept what is done to us by those who know how to do it .

Might be time for a new religion?

An elite and AI superpowers with machines organise and manage the world for the the rest. The arrangements keep them in good health, reasonably comfortable and happy. This time the gods actually exist and can intervene when needed.
Ah, but I was so much older then ... I'm younger than that now

Until AI can build its own power source we need fear nothing from it !

Oh dear .. I've just had a vision of the populace getting into individual uber-pods wired into a matrix for power-generation! :)

Uber loses money at the rate of about $2 billion per year with no prospect of turning that round. Its business model is fundamentally broken and the driverless car thing is just a straw they are clutching at to generate more investor revenue.

Absolutely. Nearly Sane posted a series of articles on Uber and they made very interesting reading. Basically, when you take a ride in an Uber taxi, about 60p of every pound that it costs is being paid by gullible rich people in Silicon valley.
