Dan Brown cashed in on it well enough.  No harm up to a point but what got me was people believing it and even going on guided tours all over the place (including an old chapel in Scotland), on the strength of it.  It was worse than Harry Potter!

I don't see that sort of stuff as much problem, and Roslyn is and was a fascinating place before Dan Brown, famous author, known for tautology and redundancy.

The problem is the anti Semitic pish about the Rothschilds owning Federal Reserves and its related nonsense used in no small part, wgen tied in with the whole idiocy of blood libel, as justification for the Holocaust,

Indeed, I've also encountered it in real life with a couple of people who were friends and appeared as sensible as is generally needed. Strangely not friends now after two separate evenings of why Hitler got the approach wrong but it was for good reasons.

I too have encountered it in real life but, thankfully, it didn't last with that person, also highly intelligent.  No mention of Hitler thank goodness but the some of the rest plus elite bloodlines and shape changing lizards....I am very glad that passed.
