Yes but the allegation is he had prostitutes urinate on a bed (previously) slept in by the Obamas in a hotel that was well known to be bugged by the Russian FSB. Doesn't that sound a little bit far fetched even for Trump?

It does sound a bit out there to sya the least but I did always wonder why he seemed to like Russia so much.

Meanwhile Russia is upping the ante, starting to get scary. Trump will do anything to stay in power, Russia tests him very early.

It certainly highlights the difficulty over "fake news". Once you get into these sort of realms you start to doubt everything you hear, and whilst a certain amount of skepticism is useful, nay, necessary in one's life - I'm not sure being unsure of everything is useful.

I'm not sure that disqualifies you from office - I was watching Dan Snow's programme last night  about Lloyd-George also not renowned for keeping it in his knickers and if judged on those standards we would not have had that leader. So judgements of that type are not that useful in isolation.

To my mind it is more about the double standards and hypocrisy involved.

Yes, I was thinking that about Trump's attacks on the elite, and Clinton cronyism.   As far as I can see, Trump is filling his cabinet with cronies who are billionaires.   Ah but, you see, this is an anti-elitist elite.

I have an issue with the approach that this is (a) new but (b) it's like the 1930s. I think the problem is not so much fake news as too much news and a lack of time to find out what is true.

I wouldn't disagree that there is too much news. There's too much of everything these days. But fake news at the levels they appear to be at - although that in itself is difficult to gauge - is very worrying.

There is undoubtedly fake news, but there has always been. That's why you can have echoes  of the 30s, but if anyone can actually give me the truth on Aleppo, i have yet to find them despite scouring media.
