Hi Trent,

I'm currently at the end of the runway at RAF CONINGSBY enjoying the aerial activity . The Typhoons are awesome (and I don't use that word lightly).

yes , another awesome machine, and that terrifying howl will stay in my memory . Such a shame XH558 the last airworthy flying Vulcan was grounded last October owing to lack of support from 3 major technical companies. If it were a ballet company it would probably get government financial support to keep it going. Very disappointing .

I'm looking at a superb photo of the Vulcan on our wall at the moment(an Xmas present), and it takes me back to a visit made to RAF Finningley, long before it became Doncaster Airport. I can still remember how my teeth vibrated with the power and the sound as the Vulcan took off.

AN amazing place during the cold war. I grew up near RAF Finningly with my school directly under the flight path of the Vulcans , totally awesome , the noise will stay with me forever.

When I left school, I worked for a while at St Vincents, the house in Grantham that had been the control centre for the Dambusters raid.

Grantham is not flat!

Well, you see, Wiggi is a Norfolk boy, like myself. Unlike myself, he still retains a peculiar affection for the great flatlands, and since his 'xenophobia' won't allow him to grant any superior qualities to other counties which are in fact very similar to his own, he feels obliged to pour scorn on those parts of England which are contiguous. No doubt he is similarly disparaging about Suffolk and Cambridgeshire :)

This is true, but most of Lincolnshire is. Such a pity about Grantham - pretty town, birthplace of Sir Isaac Newton of course, and a certain political lady whom the world has more divided opinions about.

I too have chased (and sometimes caught) ladies in Manchester. However, I certain Venezuelan stunner whom I chased through Manchester, Altrincham and Hale evaded my charms, even though I sang Mozart to her.
