Idiocies of theodicy
« on: February 03, 2017, 01:25:22 PM »

Not the most measured article on the subject but one that arises from a passion

Don't immediately see what is "ffs" about it.

Am I missing something?

We've been over that ground a thousand times and the article doesn't add any new insight or information.

There is no "problem of evil", All his initial premises, "If.., if.. if..." are false or inconsistent, from which nothing useful follows.

How will you know if you get the right answer? We may as well try and answer one of Dame Slap's questions.

"'I don’t know,' said Dame Slap. 'But that doesn't matter. It’s the answers I want. I don’t care what’s in them, so long as you have written answers. I don’t know the answers myself, so it’s no good my reading them.'"

That's hardly the point. The point is that an omnipotent, omniscient and omnibenevolent god is in contradiction to the world we observe - hence it's a problem for those who believe in such a god...

It is but, as I suggested earlier, anyone that accepts those characteristics has already blown their logic circuits so further logical or philosophical deliberations are pointless as they cannot reach a sensible conclusion.

Omnibenevolence? Is that even in the same category as omnipotence and omniscience?.....and will shoehorning it in not leave the door open for God being an Omnibus as well?
