Indy is The Independent. Royalist was a poster on the BBC boards.
I don't remember them.
I couldn't find it (plenty about Indy car racing, Indiannapolis and even Queens Park Rangers FC ),even though I googled Independent Newspaper discussion forum.
Ohhhh....one of those?
I don't think there is separate one, I think Humph means they are posting in the Comments section following on from stories. Probably easiest if he linked to the story where the comment is.
I think it fair to say that he was unique. I did ask him once if he practised some kind od neo Rastafarianism, with QE II replacing Haile Selassie, he sent back a charming but incomprehensible reply.
Oh I get it, thanks. I don't know if you have to pay to read it online but I'll have a look.
Did he cross swords with the poster that thought she was the proper heir to the throne?
I don't think they were posting at the same time. I do remember that at one time he was being slagged by a Christian Fundamentalist ("Gigantic Freddie"), an agnostic ("Toby Jugg"), and an anti theist ("Karl"), all on the same thread for entirely different reasons.
Emily?
Floo, Private Eye nicknamed the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh, "Brenda and Brian", a long time ago, because they looked so middle class.I don't know the Indy or Royalist though, sounds a hoot.
Indeed, also believed that the Moon was much smaller and much closer.
Was Gigantic Freddie, one of the many aliases, of the Hexagons of Lightning chap?
How horrible!
It wasn't meant to be nasty, floo, I read it many years ago at work. It wasjust gentle joshing about the appearance of the royal pair going about their day time duties, visiting places and meeting people, the Queen always neat and hatted with handbag rather like a middle class lady at a wedding. Lots of people commented on the ordinariness of her dress but her working clothes had to be unostentatious and comfortable. When dressed up for a big occasion she was quite different! Nobody would think of saying things like that about her now but it was never vicious.
