I'm going to visit Florence and I wondered, other than Seeing Dougal, Zebedee or my main aim which is to see that statue of David, would there be any other things that anyone here could give me some other recommendations of any special sights in Florence that would be worth a special look.

Thanks in advance if any of you can come up with some ideas, I really love any of the ecclesiastical type buildings, the workmanship.

I haven't had a look them on the web yet but I 'll more than likely take a peek at your suggestions when I get there, we both enjoy all of the arts, something my wife and I have always enjoyed together, I suppose for me it's as near as I'm likely to get to taking a shot in the arm; just mention a gallery to me anytime, I'm in, thanks for the info H H.

I don't know whether you saw the series Italy's Invisible Cities earlier this year? The series is no longer available on iPlayer but it is possible to buy down a down load from the BBC Store.

You could visit the Ponte Vecchio and see the statue of Zebedee and perhaps take a short trip towards the coast and see the Leaning Tower of Pizza.

It's genuine but the Italians spell it Zebidi and it is based upon a bust of Sophia Loren.

Now that could be quite interesting; didn't the Medici family figure as big time operators over there, Florence?

It'll be interesting to see some of the family likenesses first hand, busts, statues or paintings etc.

Florence has been on my must see list for long enough, it's about time.

Those all were personal, all from previous visits. I stayed at Casa Guidi,  and have eaten and drunk in the bar and restaurant many times. I tried to put it together as an itinerary in terms of the location.
