The Secret History of Hollywood.

Fans of Hollywood cinema from the first half of the 20th century will probably enjoy these podcasts: both free on iTunes: this is the website.

Haven't started the 'attaboyclarence' ones yet (over 70 are available) but have listened to the first of the three 'Blood and Bullets ones. These are each hours long, and more like an audio book, but with changes in the subject of the narrative that are handy for listening breaks. Looks like there are different sections yet to come (horror films, Hitchcock etc).

Done in the style of a docu-drama, with scripted fictional interactions between the characters within the historical story telling. The first episode of Blood and Bullets dealing with the emergence of the Warner Brothers starting up their business, the introduction of sound to films and the early life of James Cagney - quite good use of background music too. Just started the second episode with introduces Edward G Robinson and covers the gangster situation in Chicago leading to the production of the classic gangster films (The Public Enemy etc).

Definitely entertainment rather than history, but well worth a listen if you like cinema from that era.
