There is a splendid line in Noel Coward's Bittersweet, sung by the quartet of footman "What we mean by very good is go to hell". I sung that as a young man in 1977, and I have used that as a maxim throughout my working life in service industries. Speak in your own code, you are making fun of them & they don't know it.
