Think this is incredible sad.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-40438207

Would it have improved their ratings? Really?

Or then there is this.

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/youtube-daddyofive-cody-videos-watch-children-custody-latest-prank-parents-a7713376.html%3Famp

The emotional abuse was initially exposed by other youtubers.

Incredibly stupid.

Don't get me wrong. It is sad
But it was a fucking stupid thing to do.
Before we work on Artificial Intelligence shouldn't we address the problem of natural stupidity.

Agree with that totally. Clearly we aren't talking about the cleverest.

Sadly it would appear obvious that it would improve their ratings.

The shooting was incredibly stupid. :o The parents were abusive to do what they did to their children, but at least they were daft enough to do it so the world could see what unfit parents they are.  >:(

The (to me utterly, utterly baffling and incomprehensible) desire/need for fame aka attention has much to answer for.

Given that the USA refuses to make firearms freely available to its citizens, there needs to be mandatory training in firearm safety there.

Unfortunately, we are exposed to TV programmes and films where it's safe to (for example) hide behind a car door or a wooden desk in the face of gunfire. There needs to be education in the real power of these weapons. If the two people in the story had seen the real penetrating power of a bullet, I'm sure they would be neither dead nor facing prison time now.

On the other hand, the staff (?) of the Darwin Awards website will be kept in gainful employment, so there's that.

A test/dry run without someone behind the book might have been in order!

I'm afraid they don't qualify. It compounds the tragedy that their child was watching the stunt and the woman is pregnant. It also disqualifies the man from a Darwin award, I believe.

Potentially.

I really don't know how harsh you want me to be here, frankly.

I meant the reason for disqualification from the Darwin Award.

Improved ratings means the potential to monetise their channel. They probably saw it as a ticket out.
