I don't like herbal remedies being lumped in with homeopathy. A lot of our best drugs were or are plant derived.

which while true, doesn't mean that others and the ones referred to here are not exactly the same nonsense as homeopathy.

Digitalis and aspirin being the first two that spring to mind.

Quinine and tamoxifen being others. Menthol is plant derived too.

I don't know which herbal remedies the NHS used to prescribe. Peppermint capsules are proven to be effective against IBS and used to be available years ago.
