Really? I understand heterosexual men and women are excluded from dancing together from Strictly Come Dancing, and non celebrity people, and chimps of whatever sexual orientation.

My take on this is that its not so much a question of who leads & who follows, its more a matter of costume. Part of the appeal of this show is the glamorous costumes, and the contrast between the male costumes, and the female costumes. To put two men dancing together would be like having what is traditionally a tenor and baritone duet sung by two baritones, one would lose the contrast and the performance would be less interesting.
