I think that depends on how the other half are 'removed' if it's by a set of huge disasters, and changes in how we can and where we can live - it's pretty likely that it will be much less pleasant.

Except that very, very few of us are going to be here at this point, the consequences of this are going to devastate regions in forty or fifty or sixty years, when decades of altered climate have completely altered local ecosystems.
