HMS (Less than)Vigilant
« on: October 28, 2017, 10:36:28 AM »
"for, as long as but a hundred of us remain alive, never will we on any conditions be brought under English rule. It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself."

Weapons of mass murder, a less than trustworthy captain, and nine drugged sailors.
Why worry?

perhaps we should accept that young men and women want sex and  the RN should provide relevant facilities . this may help to prevent affairs where emotions are involved .
As far as drugs are concerned regular testing should be carried out and the offenders discharged before boarding .
Sniffer dogs are very good at finding drugs which are hidden aboard, problem solved  ;)

We are often told that words and phrases change meaning over time, perhaps this behavior is the new definition of "Splice that Main Brace"?

Quite. What else have they got to do, sailing backwards and forwards to no end?

Maybe someone could start a small war?   :-\
Ah, but I was so much older then ... I'm younger than that now

I wouldn't go that far  :D, I just don't have a lot of faith that people will always behave well when they're cooped up together and have heard similar stories before.  Pity it got out really, I don't suppose it's done any good.

Perhaps the expression is now 'Spice ... the main brace'.
