Halloween is the 25th anniversary of Ghostwatch.

I started watching it after the beginning, so I missed the announcement that said it was a drama. At the beginning, I thought it was real and then things started to happen...

... My memory might be playing up, but I'm pretty sure I twigged as soon as the supernatural stuff started happening that it was a spoof, but parts of it still scared the crap out of me.

Yes, even knowing it was a spoof then were some generally spooky moments - the use of presenters that you might see presenting something factual, and doing what was an 'acting' job very well played with your ideas of what you were seeing. It also ramped up gradually enough that you could be taken in.
