For some reason it reminded me of David Brent in the Office describing how he processed job applications.
First of all take the top wodge of applications and bin them.
This is effective because after all no one wants to employ a "loser".

Perhaps a gradual reintroduction is called for: limited, say, to checking if politicians are telling the truth. The only proviso (having read the article) is that I get to boil the water and heat the iron bar until it glows nice'n'red.
