If heaven and hell actually exist where are they supposed to be situated?

I don't believe they are actual places, but the human mind can experience feelings, which can be described heavenly or absolute hell.
According to Jesus, Heaven is within you or according to the Gospel of Thomas, within you and outside of you.  'Hell' is possibly Hades which at a guess I would say is the Hellish contents of the subconscious mind which 'burns' you up from time to time.

Describing things as heavenly or helish, plus all the other adjectives we use because of the way the terms have been used throughout history, well, we're stuck with them, aren't we?! As with the gradual lessening of god belief, their associations will gradually fade too I think ... and, of course, hope!

Sound reasonable to me, ekim.

What do you think is 'absolute hell'?

You're almost quoting Milton's Satan in Paradise Lost. Milton presumably thought his Satan was mistaken, but he couldn't help making Satan seem much more attractive than his God or Christ*

Well, Hell is easy. It's in Norway and it has a railway station.

Heaven is rather more difficult. There is a gay nightclub in London ....

Paradise Lost, Book I, Lines 221-270
John Milton, 1608 - 1674
Is this the Region, this the Soil, the Clime,
Said then the lost Arch-Angel, this the seat
That we must change for Heav’n, this mournful gloom
For that celestial light? Be it so, since he
Who now is Sovran can dispose and bid
What shall be right: fardest from him is best
Whom reason hath equald, force hath made supream
Above his equals. Farewel happy Fields
Where Joy for ever dwells: Hail horrours, hail
Infernal world, and thou profoundest Hell
Receive thy new Possessor: One who brings
A mind not to be chang’d by Place or Time.
The mind is its own place, and in it self
Can make a Heav’n of Hell, a Hell of Heav’n.
What matter where, if I be still the same,
And what I should be, all but less then he
Whom Thunder hath made greater? Here at least
We shall be free; th’ Almighty hath not built
Here for his envy, will not drive us hence:
Here we may reign secure, and in my choyce
To reign is worth ambition though in Hell:
Better to reign in Hell, then serve in Heav’n.
But wherefore let we then our faithful friends,
Th’ associates and copartners of our loss
Lye thus astonisht on th’ oblivious Pool,
And call them not to share with us their part
In this unhappy Mansion, or once more
With rallied Arms to try what may be yet
Regaind in Heav’n, or what more lost in Hell?

Orpheus with his lute made trees, And the mountain tops that freeze, Bow themselves, when he did sing; To his music, plants and flowers Ever sprung; as sun and showers There had made a lasting spring. Every thing that heard him play, Even the billows of the sea, Hung their heads, and then lay by. In sweet music is such art, Killing care and grief of heart Fall asleep, or hearing, die.

So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell, blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

Mama take this badge from me
I can't use it anymore
It's getting dark too dark to see
Feels like I'm knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door

-----

Like a bat out of hell
I'll be gone when the morning comes.
When the night is over
Like a bat out of hell
I'll be gone-gone-gone.
Like a bat out of hell
I'll be gone when the morning comes.
But when the day is done, and the sun goes down,
And the moonlight's shining through,
Then like a sinner before the gates of heaven,
I'll come crawling on back to you.

To be fair H8 is both obscure for Will,  and him and Fletcher writing together

Sang a musical version of that with other boy trebles when I was at school. Never bothered to consider its provenance, whether Will, Fletcher or both. No doubt it was the setting by Vaughan Williams.
I'm now conjuring up images of our brilliant and eccentric school music master with his white baton on Prize Day.
