Sounds to me like the UEFA version of the rule is more reasonable.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if most people watching the game were - like me - completely ignorant of the significance of the yellow ribbon until the FA charge was reported in the media.

Idiotic comparison but it does raise the question of whether religious symbols are somehow by definition not political.
