Double-speed guitar . . . . ?
« on: March 01, 2018, 07:26:02 AM »

I have just listened, for the first time in Goddess knows how many years, to Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells, (Pts one and two) and it has re-opened an old query that I hadn't realised that I had never followed-up.

What is a "Double-speed guitar"?

The Holy Bible, probably the most diabolical work of fiction ever to be visited upon mankind.

An it harm none, do what you will; an it harm some, do what you must!

Still a masterpiece, IMHO.
Mind you, so is "Ommadawn".
BTW, anyone listened to "Ommadawn 2"? Is it worth the effort of buying it?

It's a guitar recorded at half speed and then played back at normal speed in the mix to make it sound an octave higher - and to make the musician seem like a whizz.

Syd Barrett used the same technique on the track See Emily Play.
