Whereas the first was a short piece that it's quite hard to disagree with as far as it goes, the second is just the sort of trite nonsense that some religious types seem to think is profound.

No, people who lack belief in gods are not "in the same boat" as those who believe in one (or some) of the thousands of gods on offer - and while it is strictly true that those who lack such a believe are 'believing' in something they do not know, it is no more interesting or profound to point it out than pointing out the same thing about people who don't believe in ghosts, fairies, alien abductions, or orbiting teapots.
