Dreams
« on: March 16, 2018, 01:04:41 PM »
Over the last couple of nights I'm exhausted, I've been building this rather extended elevated walkway around some trees in a small side street in my town, that was the night before last, last night same walkway I was tackling health and safety about the need for handrails and the non-slip details, let's hope I can finish it off tonight before the weekend for the grand opening.

This dream has been so real, I was telling my wife about it this morning, both of us having a good laugh, oh yes, I remember the bus was having trouble circumventing this structure of mine too, it's only a side street off of the high road and it's not a bus route at the mo.

It's the detail of design and the sheer hard work involved in this dream? Where do these ideas come from?

I've heard that it's the mind chucking out detritus, clearing the brain for the coming day, however I'm looking forward to finishing the job tonight, anyway good night all.

Regards ippy

P S Let's have a laugh at your dream efforts.

Ippy maybe you are dreaming of a past life of yours! :D

I spend my nights dreaming, but rarely remember the details when I awake. However, last night I did dream that my husband was telling me I hadn't turned the heating up high enough, and I said it was boiling hot. Nothing remarkable about that dream, in real life he keeps turning it up, and I keep turning it down! Before his illness it used to be the other way around! ;D

ippy,

Can I suggest you wear steel toe-capped boots and a Hi-Vis jacket to bed tonight? Dangerous places those elevated walkways.
"Don't make me come down there."

They can be very dangerous indeed. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-43418898  :o Apparently it only took six hours to put it together on Saturday.

L R & Blue, I'll be glad when the bloody thing's finished I'm worn out, what with the building regulations and arranging a time and date with the building inspector, making sure I'm there on time plus having to give you nosey lot updates.

On the serious side these two nights of dreaming It's the detail and how it feels as though I'm really there, I think I might start a business building these walkways, I certainly know most of how to do the detailed work involved now.

These two dreams have made me really laugh at myself, I've got a big grin on my face writing about it here now.

Gotta laugh aintya.

Regards to all.

P S These two dreams are Brahmas, they're really funny, might go to bed early tonight.

Ippy - I stand back in admiration and take my hat off to you! For some reason or other I thought you were a retired person, got that wrong.

Dreams - I have a lot of them, some I remember well but this is a funny one (some people will say, "Yeuch".
I'd been watching a TV programme in which a young girl was advised to be checked for STDs.

In my dream I was in my kitchen talking to my cousin and said, "I caught VD recently but it's no big deal, have the antibiotics" (or similar words). My cousin who was holding a teatowel shrugged as if to say, "That's how it goes", and started wiping glasses that were on the drainer - I can see the glasses gleaming quite clearly even now!

Well I never! I remember waking up and laughing about that (chance would be a fine thing)(I don't mean that).

My dreams were very real, can't say I hope yours were similar, only trouble with my dream is they say it'll be snowing here at the weekend and if it does it'll make a mess of all my good works if I can't get the varnish on before the snow arrives.

Arr well life's always creating problems.

At one silly stage in my life, I trained myself to wake up after a dream and record it so that I could later try to analyse it.  It's quite a good ageing process, I think I put on 10 years.

I rarely remember my dreams. In fact, I can't even remember the last dream I remember remembering.

Dreams occur during a stage of sleep called REM (rapid eye movement) during which the eyeballs can be seen moving about and skeletal muscles are relaxed. At the end of a REM session you may go into another sleep stage (in which case you will have no recollection of any dream) or wake up and recall elements of the dream. You may even wake and after a few seconds fall asleep again - and have no recollection of this happening.

It is usual to enter REM sleep several times a night. I am intrigues by people who place great importance on dreams and their content - they do not seem to realise that in any night they have had half a dozen dreams of which they can recall nothing. If the content dreams is important then it may be that they have no recollection of a really significant dream because it was not the last one of the night.

During sleep the brain is not switched off but is very active. Dreams appear to be important in assimilating new sensory information into existing memories. Deep sleep appears to be involved in brain maintenance - and may be instrumental in protecting against dementia.

I used to sleep well but not anymore. I am fortunate if I get 4 hrs sleep each night, I go to bed by 9pm as I am tired, but get up by 6.30pm, I seem unable to break this pattern.

Your sleep pattern is similar to mine, Floo.  Have a look at www.sleepio.com - a website connected to a cognitive behaviour therapy approach to dealing with sleep disorders. It is run by Professor Colin Espie, of Oxford University. There is an entry in Wikipedia.
