I find it quite amusing that all of a sudden the Tories seemed to have realized that the peers are unelected.
It suited them for decades when the HoL was their pet poodle, now that it has turned into a more troublesome terrier they want to put it down.
Well as always with the tory party there are some who want that but then the tory party is now like the ice shelf. Once a cold expanse now breaking up but still incredibly cold.
I definitely think there are those in the tory party who consider the press as the second house who are there just to deliver voters in some kind of mutual monks circle.
But that isnt the aim of the long game which is probably to cut out the inconvenience of depending on a mandate (May's obsession with identity documentation and changing traditional means of registration?). On the way to the new order is brexit and the elimination of parliamentary power and possibly a constitutional crisis over the succession....leaping over Prince Charles succession in favour of the nations/the press's choice.
