I think it's more the GBP. It looks as though May, banking on there being bloody minded antiimmigration abroad and it was more important to people than the NHS and playing it and that it bolsters support was right in thinking that.

Nope, she's benefitting from the Labour party being so dysfunctional that it makes the Tories look the less worse.

I don’t think you can get away from the fact that many traditional Labour areas are also anti immigration. And many to the centre right aren’t.

Yes, I thought polls are showing heavy support for the 'hostile environment', though not for the Windrush people.  There is still support for Brexit, isn't there?  May is utilizing these elements, I suppose.

You could say that the right wing are dominant in England in relation to immigration and Brexit, outside London.  For example, this seems true in Norfolk.  I don't know how Labour can deal with this.   I suppose they could replace Corbyn, but maybe then they would lose other people, (like me).

Not sure the right wing is dominant in England. It's not that long ago Labour had a majority there too and we are told that the younger people are not anti immigration as much as older people. We have a situation where in England, it is very polarised. Other parties are almost irrelevant but Labour is struggling to get above 40%. The Tories by don't of being able to get 44% and our crap voting system are therefore doing ok.

Just what I was about to say. In fact they are the only party I’ll even consider voting for, Corbyn or no Corbyn. I used to be active in the party years ago and I think it’s time I rejoined.

Leaving aside the issue with FPTP, I have a number of friends who are members of the Green Party who find it insufficiently focussed on green policies currently. I struggle with its tinge of antiscience

Because it's the least worse option that wins? Don't get me wrong, I have no interest in voting Labour. FPTP  has made me a tactical voter for most of my life but I wouldn't vote Labour just now, as I have no idea what I was voting fo, but if it was a seat that was either Tory or Labour, I might have to.

Caroline Lucas declared it to be a party of the Left and it took on its current identity. But as I feel that I currently have no voice maybe the Greens come closest to speaking for me.

Arguably the Greens are closest to me. But it's a seat only going to be won bby SNP or Labour, and the MP is good. Labour indulged in a piece of hereditary politics.
