The Cat that Walked by Himself from Just So Stories by Rudyard Kipling

Unfortunately my mind just did an incorrect consonant in that title. Like Jim I am cursed with too vivid an imagination to erase the image now.

Churchmanship! (Adrian Plass....hey, a Christian book.....)
"for, as long as but a hundred of us remain alive, never will we on any conditions be brought under English rule. It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself."

The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, Aged 13 3/4 - Sue Townsend (AP did a spoof of that, which I've read, as well as its sequel. Reasonably amusing, but not as good as ST.)

Read all four Sacred Diaries, pluss the Thynn and Veal sequals, as well as "An Alien at St Wilfreds"
I'm hooked.
Plus I use "Bacon Sandwiches and Salvation" when I'm mining quotes for sermons sometimes.

I'm an Adrian Plass fan too. Not so mad about the Adrian Mole rip offs though they are funny, prefer his other stuff.
