I have no more or any less sympathy for this man than anyone else we all have various troubles with family, going by my own experience his troubles seem about par for the course.

Don't be so resentful ippy, you're spoiling things.
Welby hasn't said his family troubles are any worse or different to a lot of other people's.

I haven't read the article yet, but will not be surprised if I take a similar view to NS and Ippy.

I thought that post of mine was pretty neutral for me especially when you consider he is one of those frock wearing blokes with a pointed hat that insist on promoting that baseless idea of us all having an invisible friend.

I haven't seen any comment from NS.

Welby didn't talk about his family in order to elicit sympathy, indeed what he says is quite positive. He's pleased with his children as they are. However the point of him talking about very personal things is his belief in embracing disability and mental health.

There will be many people who read that who will identify with one or more members of that family & be encouraged by his attitude. Others who do not have experience of mental health problems or disability may have their eyes opened & start to effect change in some small way.

I've clicked on the link but after listening through most of that outline info have no wish to watch the interview.

Like I said any more or less etc, I've got this dyslexia hiding away not that unusual just a bloody nuisance when it crops up, (had to google nuisance I couldn't get near enough for spell check to give me the spelling I needed) I know the words, just can't blastedwell spell them.

The thing that I took away from it (apart from the humanity and thoughtfulness) is the recognition of the tutting in the pews for people 'not doing it right' or even just not being 'right'. I've seen the dirty looks and tuts at people not standing at the right times, at a kid with autism running around the church...Completely obnoxious.

Dyspraxia can be visible, but not visible enough to look like a disability. It looks more like clumsiness or even drunkenness, and people don't often sympathise with it.

Hopefully he will help to stop the tut tutting & encourage others to do the same. Sounds dreadful, I've never experienced it but it doesn't surprise me - that and other things which cause people to display intolerance & lack of love!

I have hearing problems, I miss a word out of a sentence, someone hits a frequency I'm unable to hear, when I answer the words I've heard, you should see some of the looks I get, I do have hearing aids for both ears, they only adjust the frequencies I don't hear, the point I'm getting to is how little sympathy there is for deafness presumably because you can't see it.

As you say about young annoying children unless you know about these disabilities they could be suffering with, along with their parents, that's all they are, annoying children I find I'm far more forgiving knowing about the unseen element that often goes along with a lot of the complaints you describe.

Regards ippy.
